Demographics & Statistics

Many of the information requests we receive are for demographic and statistical data.  Much of the data we use are produced by any number of federal, state, county, and non-governmental agencies.  As the local affiliate of the Pennsylvania State Data Center, it is our role to provide easy access to these different data sources and the information they disseminate.  The U.S. Census Bureau has a website that allows data searches for many items at a number of different geographic levels.

Information from the 2000 Census is available here as viewable/downloadable Adobe .PDF files for each municipality and the County.  Data for Census Tracts, Block Groups, and School Districts can be obtained by calling our offices.  Areas outside of Berks County should be retrieved from the either the State Data Center or Census Bureau's websites.  The Berks County Data Book is the premier demographic information resource for Berks, published annually by the Planning Commission.

The 2000 Census Municipal Profiles page has Adobe .PDF files prepared and distributed by the Census Bureau.  Information for Berks County and its municipalities can be viewed or downloaded here.  2003 County and Municipal Population Estimates were added on September 20, 2004.

As we develop this site, 1990 information, 1990-2000 comparisons, and data at different geographies will become available.

PLEASE NOTE:  Effective January 1, 2002, Wyomissing Hills Borough ceased to exist after merging with Wyomissing Borough.  Effective January 1, 2006, West Lawn Borough ceased to exist after merging with Spring Township.
